Winter Skincare

With the change in weather, also comes a change in skincare. Most peoples skin changes with the season, so its important to transition your products to fit your skins needs at any given time. I am generally oily, but in the winter I find that my skin is very dry. So what I like to do is keep my morning routine fairly simple, if I put too many skincare products on in the morning before my makeup, I will get oily. So I keep the intense product application for nighttime, so when I wake up my skin is extra hydrated and ready to take on the cold winter days. Here are a few of my favorite products for winter skincare!

Purity Facial Cleanser: This stuff is great. It's an amazing cleanser for all year, all skin types, everything you could think of. I like it because it is a cream cleanser so it doesn't leave my face feeling dry and tight. Also, because it is so basic and simple, using it in the morning when I want to keep thinks quick and minimal is perfect!

Algenist Genius Melting Cleanser: This is what I use at night. I take off my makeup with a wipe then go in with this product. This is a cleansing oil, so it is a bit different then normal cleansers. You take the product onto your dry face, as you work it in it turns into an oil that breaks down the rest of your makeup, then you start to work in a little water which will transform it into a milky cleanser that hydrates your face. When you rinse it off your face feels so soft and clean. This stuff is magical.

Josie Maran Pure Argan Oil: Now you may be thinking, Tyler... your oily, why would you put an oil on your face? I know it sounds crazy but fighting oil with oil actually does work. I found that once I incorporated a beauty oil into my routine, that my oily skin was much more managable. I use this every other night after I wash my face and before I put on my moisturizer. You can also use this on your hair and body if they are feeling dry too. If your skin is really really dry, put it on before your foundation, or even add a drop to your foundation!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream: To be honest, I am not 100% sure that this is meant for your face, it may be a full body cream, but either way I use it on my face at night and it works wonders. It is VERY thick and VERY moisturizing. I cant use this in the morning because of its thickness, but loading up on this at night is amazing. When I wake up my face is so hydrated and feels great.

Cleaning Your Brushes

Okay so I know that I already have posted this before, but this is a new way of cleaning your brushes that I like WAYYYY better than what I was doing before. Not a ton has changed, but the soap I use now makes a huge difference, and I have found a nifty little tool that helps get them much cleaner than just my hands!

The soap I am using now is Dr. Bronners Castile Soap. I get mine from Target, and they have a ton of different scents. I have the peppermint, and to be honest I don't love the smell, so I will get a different one next time, but either way the results are the same! This soap cleans my brushes so well. I used to have to wash my foundation brushes with rubbing alcohol before using soap because my soap wouldn't break down the foundation, but with this soap I don't have to do that! I do suggest using a conditioner with this soap because they can feel a little stripped after but using conditioner helps with that.

The other difference is my BrushEgg, I found it online and it gets my brushes soooo much cleaner, and you don't get wrinkly old lady hands! So here is what I do:

I pour the soap into a small bowl and set it up the sink. I start with my small eye brushes first and I just dip them in the soap, get them a little wet and run them over the brush egg until clean. Then I lay them on a towel. I don't worry about getting all the soap rinsed out now, I do that when I use the conditioner. After all my brushes have been washed with the soap, I put conditioner in the small bowl and so the same thing, but this time I make sure they are fully rinsed before laying them on the towel.

I also like to put some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and run it over the handles! They usually take overnight to dry. Washing brushes is so important. It took me years to realize that, but I have noticed such a difference in my makeup application and skin clarity since I have started washing them regularly!

The Best Lotion Ever

People. I have been introduced to the best thing since Netflix and Macaroni and Cheese. I know, didn't think that was possible right? But it is. Thanks to my aunt The Crafty Blog Stalker (you should check her out of you haven't already) we have found the best recipe for homemade lotion! I never thought of making my own lotion, but like my aunt, I have super dry skin and she swears by this lotion. Not only that but its only $10 for all the supplies and you will have enough to swim in. It will last forever! I love it and if your in the search for an amazing lotion to keep your skin looking fresh and hydrated for the summer then look no further!

This is also amazing for gifts! You can make so much so easy! My mom was put in charge of making gifts for 40 people! HOLY SMOKES! But we decided to make this lotion and it was so easy and took no time at all! So without any further adieu…

You ONLY need THREE ingredients:
  • Johnsons Baby Lotion (27oz)- You can use whatever one you like. We have made it with all 5 and they all smell amazing! My favorite is the Vanilla Oatmeal, or the Bedtime Scent.
  • Vitamin E Skin Cream (4 oz, there is a double pack at Walmart)- You will need a total of 8 oz so if you can find the double pack you will make your life easy.
  • Petroleum Jelly (7.5 oz)- You can use whatever kind or brand you want, we can only ever find the "fresh scent".
Now, all you do is pour all these things into your mixer… and mix. I am serious. Thats it. It is SOOOOO easy. The lotion will be too thick to put back in the baby lotion bottle, but keep the other containers and put the lotion back in those! You guys! Get on this! Your gonna love it! Let me know if you guys try it and what you think! Also, check out my aunts website for this recipe and more amazing posts!

Mascara Haul

I recently ran out of my Urban Decay Perversion mascara, so I was headed to Sephora to pick up a new mascara. I was sure I was going to get the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara because I have wanted to try it for so long! Sephora has come out with a TON of new Sephora Favorites kits, and I am the biggest sucker for these bad boys. So I found one that had 5 deluxe samples of different mascaras and one of them was the Too Faced one, so I decided to get that instead! When I opened it I got another little surprise… they give you a voucher for one free full size mascara form the kit once you decide which one you like! That is so awesome and the kit was such a good deal! So here are the products I got in the kit.

Too Faced Better Than Sex- I love it. I knew I would love it before I even got it and it now that I have it and I love it even more! It has a fat natural bristled brush and gives amazing volume!

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes- This is an awesome mascara. I got the Lights, Camera, Splashes a while ago and HATED it. It was the worst product ever, so I was reluctant to try this, but it is an excellent mascara, just stay away from the waterproof version!

Kat Von D Immortal Lash- HATE IT. I can tell you right now this mascara is a nightmare. The brush is terrifying. Its a long rubber bristled brush that shoots off in every direction possible! Not only that, but the mascara only covers about half the brush, I can't get it to cover the whole brush… Don't waste your time or money on this mascara folks.

Bare Minerals Lash Domination- This is a really awesome mascara! The brush is a little crazy for my taste, but I used it this afternoon and it looks so good! It gives your lashes very natural volume. This is great for the days where you don't want a lot of makeup. It will enhance your already gorgeous lashes!

Buxom Original Black- This is a very good mascara. It has a very big and fat brush which is what I like and its very build-able, it is not going to clump up on you! It does take a few coats to get some volume, but I appreciate mascaras that take a little more building! That way your not a clump monster after the first coat!

Overall, I am super pleased with the kit! I am super excited to get a full size mascara and I am pretty sure it will be the Too Faced one I have wanted! Hope your all doing well!

Skin Care Haul

Grab some popcorn and a Diet Coke folks, cause boy did I do some damage at Sephora today… I got a ton of new skincare. I have recently fell in love with skin care and really taking care of my skin. Yes makeup is all well and good, but its only as nice as the canvas your putting it on. I have found my makeup looks so much better now that my skin is more clear and taken care of! So I got some stuff… and by some, I mean a lot… So here we go

Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Cleanser- I have not heard much about this other than the fact that is great for brightening dull skin, which can help anyone! Your skin can always use a little pick me up. This is also great for mature skin.
First Aid Beauty Facial Cleanser- If you have dry skin, meet your new best friend. This is so thick and creamy its going to hydrate your skin like you would never imagine. Pair it with the FAB moisturizer and boom… hello gorgeous.
Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliator- I have heard amazing things about this product!! I am so excited to use it. If you guys have sensitive skin, this will work so well for you because it is so gentle yet powerful.
Glamglow Powermud Treatment- I have always wanted to try this, and finally bit the bullet. I plan on using it tonight so I will have to let you guys know! It is a mask that you leave on for 5-10 min then rinse off and unleash glowing new skin!
St Tropez Bronzing Lotion- This is also so something I have wanted to try but a broke college student can't afford hehe. But I got it and I am so stoked to try it! I love self tanner, and this is like the top of the top when it comes to tanners. So here is to hoping I don't look like an oompa loompa tomorrow!
Soap & Glory Righteous Body Butter- This stuff is so amazing, I have only had it for a few hours and have put it on like 5 times! It smells so good and is so moisturizing! Its a thick butter but it sinks in quickly so you don't have slick hands! Go get yourself some, you won't regret it!
Boscia Tsubaki Exfoliating Powder- I used to have the Bobbi Brown Buffing Sands and I loved them! But these had better reviews and them smell so good! All you do is cleanse your face, then start to work this onto your damp and slowly adding water to make a paste!
Ole Henriksen Ultimate Eyelift Gel- I get really puffy under my eyes and I have heard this is the trick to make those go bye bye! I am excited to try. It is a little thick, so its a product you will want to use at night.
Bare Minerals Mineralixer- I have never heard of this product, but I really like serums and I love this brand… so of course I wanted to try it! I use these at night and when I wake up, my skin feels so soft and hydrated.
Josie Maran Argan Infinity- Okay so if you guys have dry skin, this is your other best friend! I have never seen these, so I am not sure if they are new or not. I would not use this as a all over moisturizer because its very oily and thick, but I use it on the places on my face where I am the most dry, and I do it at night! This stuff is amazing! Check it out!

Whew we are done! I hope your not asleep yet hehe! I hope you found this informative and interesting! Skin care is so important so make sure you invest in it and take care of yourself, you deserve it! Hope you all have a great week guys! If you have any skin care recommendations for great skin care, let me know if the comments below!

Organize Your Makeup

With my ever growing makeup collection, I have had to come up with better ways to organize and make space for everything. I wish I could have a whole room dedicated to all my makeup, but a girl can  dream right? So since I have to utilize the space I already have, I think I have found a good way to organize it all and I have LOVED it! I find I use it more when its more accessible and neat. It also didn't cost very much at all! Much cheaper then a Beauty Box and with way more room! So here are some tips and tricks on how I have set my vanity up!
  1. I have a lot of eyeshadow pallets and these were the hardest to organize. I was looking at somethings for my work desk and saw this file folder and thought it would work perfect! I works so well and I do love it, the only problem is I need another one already. It doesn't store a ton, but if you just have a couple you want to store then this will be perfect! I am still trying to find the best thing for me, but for now this is working perfect!
  2. For almost everything else, I bought these drawers.. I know there are a lot. I originally bought a 5 drawer and a 3 drawer, and it was fine, as long as I didn't buy anymore makeup! I needed more room so I decided to buy another 5 drawer and take the 3 drawer back… and as you can see that did not happen! I just stacked them so now I have 13 drawers… I have a problem, I know! But these drawers are awesome and good quality, and you can find them at almost any store! I have a drawer for everything and it makes products so much easier to find!
  3. On top of the drawers I keep my brushes in a cup I got in the office supply section! I am sure you could find something cuter, but I liked this and it matched my black drawers. Pretty soon I will probably get another so I can separate my face and eye brushes, but I like having them in this little cup! I also keep my MAC Fix+ and Tarte Maracuja Serum up there too!
  4. Now I have somewhat of an addiction to lip products, and I know they sell lipstick holders, which I would love, but I would need quite a few and I don't have room for all that, so I bought a candy jar and filled it with all my lip pies and I think it is so cute! They are all different colors and shapes that it is really like a makeup junkies candy! So its not completely organized, but I like them and think its adorable!
So thats it, that my makeup organization! I hope you guys got some ideas, and if you have and ideas or cool ways you organize your own makeup, let me know! I would love to hear them!

Makeup Haul

Hey everyone! Hoping you guys are all having a lovely weekend! Mine has been quiet and peaceful, my favorite! I did do a little shopping last night though. I went to the store for some body wash and came home with no body wash and lots of makeup… story of my life! Some of my favorite videos on Youtube to watch are makeup hauls! While I don't go drop $600 at Sephora like those people, I have been known to do some damage occasionally! So I thought it would be fun to share a few of the products I have recently purchased and give you my thoughts! So here we go :)
  • Hask Argan Oil Damage Repair Shampoo and Conditioner: HOLY FREAKING CANNOLI. I got a sample of this in an Ulta package, and it made my hair feel soooooo amazing. There was only enough for one use and I was so sad! I didn't want to wash my hair cause I knew it would not feel the same once I washed it! But I saw it at the store and had to buy some! If you see it, grab it, you won't regret it!
  • Wet & Wild Bronzer in Ticket to Brazil: I went looking for Reserve Your Cabana, but it was so light! I could not have used it as a bronzer, so I grabbed this and love it! For the price, it can't be beat.
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion: I have heard amazing things about this stuff, as I am sure everyone else has too. However, I am in loved with my MAC paint pot so it will be hard to change my mind but we will see! I will let you know how it goes!
  • Ardell Natural Lashes in 110: If you guys have wanted to try false lashes but are too scared, try Ardell! They are so easy to use and they are amazing quality for such a good price. I have not tried these ones, I usually use the Demi 120, but I have heard great things about these so I am anxious to give them a try!
  • Loreal Voluminous Smoldering Liner: I am a pencil liner girl, and this liner has rave reviews! It looks a little intimidating because the pencil is huge. But if you tight line, you guys need this in your life. It is very pigmented and lasts all day!
  • Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Primrose: I love natural pink lipsticks and this one is a classic, but every time I go to the store it is sold out! I guess that is a good sign but I have wanted it for son long! I finally got my hands on one and I am so excited to use it! Its a gorgeous everyday pink that would look good on any skin tone!
  • L.A. Girl Lip Paint in Elude: I have also been looking for these lip paints everywhere! I can only ever find them online and I wanted to be able to really see them and swatch them before I bought one, but I found them at a store and was so happy! I got a very neutral pinky nude shade and it is gorgeous and HIGH SHINE! It smells good and is not sticky. If you see these, do yourself a favor and buy every color they have!
  • Prestige Lip Liner in Baby: I have never tried these lip liners, and to be honest I am not sure why I got this haha. Things tend to show up in my basket that I don't remember grabbing, but I love the color and this will look good with both the lip products I got so its all good!
  • Maybelline Pumped Up! Colossal Mascara: I had a free mascara coupon so I grabbed this one to try! I have been on a high end mascara kick, so I am anxious to see if I like this as much! Ill keep you guys posted!
  • Fruit of the Earth Spray Lotion: I love the idea of this product! I use thick body butters after I shower at night, but I just want something lightweight and clean smelling in the morning. I got the baby lotion scent and I like it! It dries quirky and is not greasy at all. The smell is a little strong so if you don't like the smell of babies then get a different scent!
  • Wet & Wild Mega Last Nail Laquer: I have been doing gel nails so long, my nails are falling apart, so I needed some cute new nail polishes. These are from the new Spring collection and I am in love! The grayish one is "A Latte Love" and the pink nude one is "A Stream of Consciousness". They are so cute and if you have not used these polishes, your missing out! They last so long and they have a special brush that makes painting your nails so easy!!
Whew! That was a lot! Thanks for sticking with me guys! I love finding new products to try out so if you have something your loving then comment below!
