Hey everybody! Hope you are all doing well! I am hoping to get on here more often and I have lots of fun (or at least I think they are fun) ideas of posts and things to do with my blog! I am excited!
So I thought I would do this first post about cleaning your makeup brushes. It wasn't until I was really into makeup that I even started cleaning my brushes, eww gross I know! But it just wasn't something I had ever thought of. But when I started doing it I noticed a difference. My brushes were lasting longer and I was not breaking out as much! Especially now that I have bought nicer brushes, I want to take good care of them!
I have tried a million and one ways to clean my brushes. I have done homemade techniques and I have bought brush cleaners. I think I have finally found the best way to clean them! I use a face wash! If it cleans the makeup off my face, it can clean the makeup off my brushes right? I just use whatever cheap gel cleanser I can find, it is usually this Clean & Clear basic wash. I also use a conditioner, whatever I have on hand, and rubbing alcohol.
1. Fill a bowl with hot water, and pump a small amount of soap on a plate. I also add a capful of the rubbing alcohol to the soap.
2. Dip your brushes in the hot water then swirl them around the plate and really get the soap in the brushes. Dip them back in the water to get a little of the soap off. (We will really rinse them off later)
** You will want to change out water and the soap on your plate once or twice to make sure your not putting your brushes in too dirty of soap and water. I usually do my eye brushes first, get new soap and water, then do face brushes.
3. Once you have done all your brushes, I put a little conditioner on a plate a dip the brushes in a small amount of conditioner then swirl it on my hand then REALLY rinse the brushes out. You want to make sure you get all of the soap out of your brushes!
4. Get as much of the excess water out of them as you can and lay them out to dry. It usually takes mine overnight to dry.
I would try to wash your brushes a few times a month. It may seem like a lot but it will make a big difference! Hope you all enjoy! Let me know your fav ways to clean your brushes! I love trying new techniques!
{xoxo} Ty
